Project Companion

Working title Public beta Built by NUQT

A calm, privacy-first Islamic companion in public beta: the complete Quran with verified text and search, locally calculated prayer times, and private plans, reminders, and notes — built on official Saudi sources with visible provenance.

The complete Quran text and its search are publicly available in the app. The package was published after exact verification against the official King Fahd Complex release fingerprints, on the publisher’s authority; no separate Project Companion human content review is claimed. Other religious libraries open only as verified official sources become available, and their real status is always shown inside the app.

Project Companion is being built as a quiet, trustworthy daily companion: private plans, reminders, and notes that stay on your device, in an Arabic-first bilingual interface with an offline-first direction.

There are no accounts, no analytics, and no cloud storage. Personal data never leaves the device, and backups are files the user exports and owns.

Design commitments

  • Privacy first — all personal data lives on the device only
  • Arabic-first, fully bilingual interface (RTL and LTR)
  • Offline-first: works after the first load without a connection
  • Official Saudi sources only, with Makkah/Madinah priority
  • Visible source provenance and a fail-closed publication process
  • Official packages publish only on an exact fingerprint match; unofficial sources would require qualified human review

Source institution

The Quran source selected for development is the official smart-device Hafs package published by the King Fahd Glorious Quran Printing Complex in Madinah. This attribution identifies the source institution accurately; it does not imply any partnership, affiliation, certification, or endorsement of NUQT or the application by the Complex.

Current availability

The application is a public beta, open to everyone at companion.nuqt.dev. It installs as a PWA, works offline after the first load, and keeps all personal data on the device. Project Companion remains a working title.
